Break Recap

My winter break was a very interesting and exciting one. The break started on friday a regular friday nothing big happened. All the events didnt really start till half way during break. I got some very wonderful gifts for christmas. Like i got the new common album. I would rate that album a 5 out of ten. It doesnt sound like the old common i listened to. I was hoping for The Game's new album LAX i heard it got very good ratings. Over the break i have leanered very important lessons that will help me in the future. My break mostly consisted of hockey. Pick up hockey and watching the the standings of the PHILLY FLYERS steadly rise to number 1. Also over break the greatest ufc event went down UFC 92. This break ive watch about 3 very good movies. One tropic thunder that movie was about a 5 on a scale of one to ten bad but i didnt think it was that bad. The two black guys in the movie are just brilliant. 2 i watched iron man movie was insane enough said. But the movie that got me was pursuit of happyness IN HD. I thought that was the best roll will smith played since fresh prince and i am legend. And and in pursuit od happyness the happyness is spelt with "y" why not an "i".

Bad Begining #2

In this chapter The Baudelaires go back to the remains of theyre house to gather theyre belongings that werent burnt. But there was nothing to take everything was burnt. Violets inventing devices, Kalus's library, and sunny's biting toys all gone all caught in the flames. Once they left the house they followed to his house thats where they were staying till Mr. Poe found them a proper place to stay. Mr. poe was in charge of not only theyre fortune but finding foster parents. The next morning they spent a couple hours in Mr. Poe's office trying to find a place to stay. Mr. Poe said that theyre parents had theyre uncle Count Olaf as the first guradian they have to live with incase of an emergancy. So Mr. Poe drove them to Olaf's place. Oalf had the ugliest house on the block or maybe even the town. Once they got out of the car they met theyre soon to be neighbor Jusice Strauss. She was a very nice women with a delightful home. But they couldnt stay and chat for long Mr. Poe had to get to work. so they left and headed to Olaf's house. Kalus knocked and Olaf answered politley. Count Olaf is a tall very skinny old man he also has only one eyebrow. Olaf invites them in. Mr. Poe stays for a little then leaves. The Baudelaires wish they could have stayed at Mr. Poe's instead of Olafs

Bad Begining #3

In the second chapter of the series of unfortunate events the Baudelaires are on theyre way to there uncles house Count Oalf. Oalf is a very terible man. Basicly in this chapter When Mr. Poe drops them off Oalf makes the Baudelairs his slaves. They have to cook, clean, and chopping up wood. Oalf wants only one thing from the baudelairs theyre fortune. He told them as soon as Violet turns 18 hes taking there money and killing them. The baudelaires are scared out of theyre mind but they cant do anything about it. The rest of the chapter the baudelaires spend most of theyre time cleaning after Olafs terrible friends, cooking for them and also chopping up wood. They also are thinking of a escape plan and they are also trying to get a hold of Mr. Poe

The Bad Begining #1

The bad begining is the first book of the series of unfortunate events. im reading this book because i started by reading the second book and i watched the movie so i decided to pick this book up. Basically the Bad Begining chapter one is about the background of the Baudelaires and mr. Poe. The Baudelaires are three kids that came from a wealthy family they dont really say what theyre parents do but theyre very rich. Theres three of them and everyone of them has a attribute to bring to the table to help them get through theyre adventure. Violet which is the oldest sister her special is that shes a inventor. Kalus is the middle brother hes attribute is he has brains because he read so many books so which makes him have knowledge about more then half of the things. And Sunny the youngest sister has theeth that are sharp and strong so you can imagine what they use that for. The Baudelaires are orphans because theyre parents died in theyre own house fire while the kids were at the beach. Mr. Poe has been theyre family friend for a while he was the one that delivered the sad new to the Baudelairs. He also is a banker and he is in charge of the Baudelairs fortune that theyre parents left behind.

PART A: Explicate the following two passages. You may use your notebook to assist you.
1) The first page of The Road (the paragraph ends at the top of pg. 4). It begins: “When he woke in the woods in the dark…” You may answer this question knowing what you do about the book as a whole. (10pts)

In this scene it seems like character is just explaining a whole a lot about the scenery and like trying to get us to have a feel for this book. Basically the main character has just woken up in the middle of the woods on a cold dark night. The authors attitude toward the subject is simple. He’s mood is just trying to make us feel what the character is feeling. The literary techniques are pretty much metaphors.


2) The last paragraph of The Road (pg. 286-87). The paragraph begins: “Once there were brook trout in the stream…” (5 pts)

3) What do you suppose the man did as a job in his former life? Explain.

The man I believe had to be either a firefighter a cop or a veteran the war. I believe the man was some sort of a fire fighter because he has the bad cough which means he had to have dealt with something that degree of work.. And also believe he was a cop because the way he had that great shot to the head of that one cannibal. But I also do believe he was veteran because he like knows the stuff he needs to survive and he could read a map pretty good and had knowledge about where they rested and stuff.
4) Are the man and boy heroes? Why or why not?
Well

I believe the man and the boy were heroes to some extent even though they didn’t really like help the people that were stuck in the basement about to get eaten. But they also did help the old man that was blind they gave him some food. The boy is more of a hero then the man because he wanted to help everyone he saw but helping could have killed him.
5) What will happen to the boy and his new family? Explain your answer.
I believe in the future the boy will be raised and thought very well with his new family. They seem like nice and respectable people because the mother and father have children and they have to teach the children how to live and respect others and they will just take him as one of they’re own.

Outside Reading Book

I still havent decided what book i should read yet its really between three very stunning books. The first book is this book that i found in your class (burgess guys and lit) which i think is called sohpmore year. This book pretty much explains its self. Ive read only a couple pages but it sucked me in. The author in this book is sorta like a kid. He uses vocabulary that you could understan and easy to follow. The second book is the autobiography of malcom X. This book is such an inspration for me because malcom a hellbent kid somewhat like me he also was a muslim which is a very amazing thing to see someone who believes what you believe in do so much for america and other black muslims. The third book im deciding on reading is The seires of unfortuant events. I know ive already explained about this seires in my other blog. These books are all really brilliant books and i probibly will end up recomending this book to alot of different people.

Outside Reading Book

Well i havent selected a outside reading book yet but i have a lot of books in mind like for example the autobiography of malcom X. Even though a read a little bit of it i want to read about it more like pretty much digest it. Even though its a very wonderful peice of writting i want more interesting stuff like and action book or something. I think i might just end up reading the series of unfortunate events book eight by lemony snicket since i have it and read a little. im on the eight book. so to basicly sum up what happend the events leading to this point. There were three three kids they were kin violet the oldest sister calus the second oldest son and sunny the youngest sister. So basicly theyre parents died a tragic fire and they were sent to theyre other legal gardiuan count olaf. olaf is after theyre money that theyre parents left for the kids. So after the kids were living with olaf he tried to kill them so they moved away and he followed them to the next house and the next he did it for seven houses. im early in the book so i would bet he will appear sometime in the book. Its so interesting the way lemony chooses to write he's books its mysterious and scary but its also enlightening. He adds speacial talents to the kids. Like violet is an inventor, claus has knowledge about most things they come across and sunny has the ablity to use her teeth bite hard things. So i believe the series of unfortuante events is the book im probibly going to read for this quater.
